Tasting Notes
The 2006 Tomatin Madeira Edition bottling is the most complex aromatically when compared to the Port and Moscatel finish whiskies tasted alongside. The single malt spent eight years in cask before being moved to an ex-Madeira barrel for an additional seven years. Bottled in early 2022, it has distinctly fruity aromatics of fig and dried berries, as well as richer fruitcake notes. On the palate, there are rich rancio notes alongside hints of berry fruit and brighter dried apricot and dark chocolate flavours. It has a lovely viscous texture, and is very smooth and elegant.
About the producer

Founded in 1897, Highland distillery Tomatin has swelled and shrunk during subsequent whisky booms and busts. Its approachable, light, unpeated style was so popular in blends that Tomatin became the largest malt distillery in Scotland.
