FINE+RARE, Oct 2022

The Moscatel Edition of Tomatin’s Portuguese Collection was distilled in 2006, aged over eight years in cask and then transferred to a barrel that previously held Moscatel de Setúbal – where it lay for an additional seven years. The finished whisky has a distinctly brighter, lighter aromatic tone when compared to the Port and Madeira Editions. On the nose, there are aromas of fresh leather, heather and spicy nutmeg, while the palate has a lovely viscosity yet feels bright and fresh, not at all heavy. It has great depth, a very smooth texture and a long, spicy finish.

Tomatin

Founded in 1897, Highland distillery Tomatin has swelled and shrunk during subsequent whisky booms and busts. Its approachable, light, unpeated style was so popular in blends that Tomatin became the largest malt distillery in Scotland.
