From a 1 ha (2.47-acre) plot, 40% of the vines were planted in 1944. Lots of iron in the heavy clay soil. Lighter than expected; mid-pale ruby. Even more surprise with a meaty nose of dark red and black fruits, juicy, fresh acidity. On the sullen side of expressive, with a well-framed structure that builds on the finish. Good interest. (MH)

Juicy red fruit on the nose, finely ground tannin and just the faintest suggestion of oak spice. Supple structure and easy drinking. (RH)
