Tasting notes
Full bottle 1,593 g. 60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir. 40% base wine from 2021, 60% reserves from 2011, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. A portion of the still wines were barrel aged. You can almost smell the tension in this wine before you taste it. And through that sense of ‘wires holding earth to sky’, there is the scent of lemongrass, of tarragon, of freshly crushed ginger root. Prismic in the way it seems to split in the mouth. Marine-like in the way it slices its brightness horizontally and then dashes it in a billion tiny crystals across an endless golden beach of salty minerality. Sorrel-sherbet shimmer. An explosion of white pepper flung on the finish with defiance. (TC)
