NV Yamazaki Tskuriwake Series (Full Set, 4x70cl)

Yamazaki’s 2022 Limited Edition Tsukuriwake Selection is a rare quartet of single malts celebrating the four pillars of whisky-making at the coveted Japanese producer. Each single malt in the collection, which is named after the celebrated distiller’s artisanal and diverse whisky-making philosophy, Tsukuriwake, celebrates the casks and malts that have made Yamazaki such an icon. As the name suggests, the first bottling was exclusively matured in American oak puncheons, coopered at Suntory. The puncheon has been instrumental in Yamazaki’s almost 100-year history, slowly maturing the distillery’s distinctive single malt and imparting ripe persimmon, peach and vanilla characteristics. The Spanish Oak Edition has been matured in the highest-quality casks from northern Spain. It is an ode to the signature depth of flavour and mature fruity notes the European oak cask imparts on the multi-layered Japanese single malt. Yamazaki celebrates its long tradition of using Japan’s native oak, mizunara, with its third bottling. The long-matured single malt boasts all of mizunara’s characteristic sandalwood and incense notes which only shine through after a substantial time in this cask. The final bottling in the remarkable collection honours the “hidden accent” of Yamazaki: the heavily peated malted barley which is expertly blended to produce a gentle, refined and smoky single malt. This is a rare collection of whiskies from the iconic Japanese producer.
