Tasting notes
Staglin’s 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon was the first memorable wine of the night. Totally graceful and silky on the palate, it graced the palate with a super-classic if somewhat Left Bank-inflected array of tobacco, cedar and graphite before brightening up a bit in the glass with plum and raspberry notes. Overall, the 1995 delivered a great performance for a wine that is close to being fully mature. The 1995 is a great choice for drinking today.

The 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon is richer and more intense in the mid-palate than the 1996, as well as more backward. The wine is high in tannin, extract, and richness, yet the overall elegance, symmetry, and harmony among its elements are present. This pure, black fruit-dominated wine should be at finest between 2003-2020. I find both the 1995 and 1996 Cabernet Sauvignons to be graceful, elegant, and undeniably stylish. Tel. (707) 963-1749
