Tasting notes
The 2019 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru has turned out brilliantly. Soaring from the glass with scents of raspberries, peonies, blood orange, licorice, sweet spices and rose petals, it's full-bodied, layered and complete, with a velvety attack that segues into a vibrant, multidimensional mid-palate that's framed by melting tannins and succulent acids. Concluding with a long, perfumed finish, this is a sensational wine that will offer a broad drinking window thanks to the charming profile of the vintage.

The 2019 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru includes 15% whole cluster fruit this year. This was very tight, almost surly on the nose following on from the Echézeaux, wet limestone suffusing the dark berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with filigreed tannins. There is an electric line of acidity here, and superb mineralité and symmetry toward a persistent finish that lingers long in the mouth. Very sweet, almost candied on the aftertaste. Just bloomin’ gorgeous.
