Tasting Notes
The annual release of Remoissenet’s Les Clos has become one of the top-value buys in any vintage. The success of the 2020 vintage only makes this Grand Cru Chablis more appealing, having the rare combination of both concentration and amazing freshness. Tasting the wine, this is a serious Grand Cru wine that rivals those of the Côte d’Or. The wine opens with a complex, floral, mineral, iodine and citrus bouquet on the nose. But it’s on the palate that the wine comes alive. The dynamism here is fantastic, with great intensity and subtle white orchard fruit flavours. The striking acidity of this full-bodied wine brings an extra layer of power, retaining excellent balance. The long finish is marked by bone-dry extract and stony, saline minerality. It is superb but will require 8-10 years at least before it offers up its full potential. Drink 2030-2040.
