FINE+RARE

These three stunning vintages of Ch. d’Yquem are legendary. The 1988 is current winemaker Sandrine Garbay’s favourite of the three – an unusually late harvest that she describes as “exceptional” and “very fresh”. Her predecessor favoured the 1989 – a year that produced opulent yet elegant wines. The 1990 season was warmer, with less botrytis, producing a wine that is layered with dried fruit. Robert Parker described the 1990 as “one of the richest Yquems I have ever tasted, with 50-100 years of potential longevity” (99 points). Neal Martin notes that the 1989 is “Yquem flirting with its very best” (98 points), while Jeff Leve (The Wine Cellar Insider) says the 1988 as “just a fabulous wine from the moment [it hits] the glass” (99 points). Our Collection Case includes one bottle (75cl) of each vintage (1988, 1989 and 1990), sourced directly from the château itself. While drinking beautifully now, all three wines have decades more to give those who are patient enough to wait.
