Tasting notes
(from a .28 ha holding). A notably ripe but agreeably fresh and earthy nose speaks of cassis, violet and plum that is trimmed in discreet but not invisible oak. There is outstanding richness to the impressively concentrated and generously proportion flavors that are shaped by a moderately firm tannic spine that belies just a hint of rusticity on the lingering finish where the only reproach is a nuance of warmth. This is a really good Gevrey villages. (90-92)/2027+

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Champerrier mingles aromas of raspberries, cherries and plums with hints of loamy soil and espresso roast. Medium-bodied, pretty and precise, it has lively acids and melting tannins. Elegant and charming, but also endowed with sneaky depth at the core, this is another fine success from Magnien.
The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Champerrier contains 30% whole bunch. Very polished on the nose, it offers a mixture of blueberry and raspberry fruit, plus a hint of vanilla in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with sweet kirsch and orange zest and a touch of cumin and sage, though it needs just a little more clarity on the finish.
