Score 17/20 · Drink 2020-2022, Tamlyn Currin, jancisrobinson.com, Jul 2020

100% Pinot Noir. From Crouch Valley Vineyard in Essex. Wine made in Battersea, London. Hand-picked, short cold soak, pressed and then fermented in old French oak. Six months on lees in tank and barrel. Smells like pressed strawberries. Tastes like walnuts and candied cherries. Way deeper and more interesting on the palate than on the nose! Like a book with the most ordinary airport-read cover, and then within the first chapter you realise there is a whole lot more to it than meets the eye. A wonderful combination of wild strawberries and sun-dried cherry tomatoes, peppadews and sumac and tamarind. Complex and amazing. One of the best pink wines of 2020. (TC)
