Less than 15% new oak. Fermented and aged in 300-litre barrels. Tank sample. A little more reductive than the Abbaye de Morgeot. But not done deliberately – just a phase of life in this wine. Rich and toasty on the palate, nutty and spicy, quite marked by the oak but still has lovely fruit at the core and a long fresh finish. Reduction reinforces the smoky side of the oak. (JH)
