The 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is more restrained on the nose than its peers. I appreciate the delineation and purity of fruit here. The oak is neatly interwoven. The palate is medium-bodied with a velvety entry. The new oak is a little more conspicuous but there is sufficient fruit to soak that up, seductive and quite lavish towards the finish with black cherries, boysenberry and fig jam. Fine length. Just give it another 24 months in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

Pale ruby. Good attack and depth. Not hauntingly wonderful and probably a little too young but certainly very respectable. (JR)

Revisited from bottle, the 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with aromas of plums, warm spices, potpourri, wintergreen and creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, with a broad attack and an ample core of fruit, it's a little shy after its recent bottling despite the fact that in profile this is a rather supple, charming interpretation of this site.
