100% Shiraz from 70-year-old vines. Aged for 18 months in French oak hogsheads (19% new). Excellent vintage (as was 2015). Beautiful succulent black fruit on the nose, with pepper, blackberry jam and vanilla on the palate. There’s a granitic, baked-earth character here too – petrichor, maybe? Definitely a wine with a sense of place, and the tannins are beautifully rounded. Very attractive to drink now, with gorgeous primary fruit and lots of floral fragrance. (RH)
