Score 91-92/100 · Drink 2018-2026, David Schildknecht, Vinous, May 2017
Last tasted in late July 2016 – more than a year ahead of its anticipated bottling – this still smells overtly yeasty and leesy, but behind that emerge scents of ripe pear and apple as well as piquant intimations of the tingling, bright crystalline sense of mineral impingement that lends invigoration as well as intrigue to an almost lushly fruity, satin-textured palate. This finishes with a combination of richness and levity (at barely over 12 percent alcohol) as well as vivacity such as one seldom encounters in Muscadet.
