Dried meat and spice on the nose with lovely beetroot notes adding substance. Long, earthy finish. Still one of the best examples of this blend. (RH)

This beautifully composed 2017 Shiraz Viognier is a bit shy to begin. Still, it slowly opens up to reveal layers of dark cherry, musk, and roasted spices, all delivered in a precise and focused package. A chalky tannic frame supports an abundance of flavour with juicy acidity providing impact before it unfurls over a long spicy finish. Very impressive and will no doubt improve over time.

Floral and violet rose-petal nose. Bucket-loads of pepper on the palate with mouth-watering freshness and suppleness. Such balance and a delicate, refined style – everything is beautifully woven together. This is imperious stuff – chiselled tannins, concentrated fruit with elegance and finesse and a long, layered finish. (AC)
