Tasting notes
The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Au Bas de Combe, from the village crus just below Les Boudots, has a straightforward and quite open bouquet. There is purity rather than power. The palate is crisp and fresh, with crunchy black currant and bilberry fruit, and quite strict and linear. I am seeking more substance toward the finish here, and a touch more persistence.

The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges Au Bas de Combe was a little muted and compressed by transient reduction when I tasted it from barrel, but it's a promising wine, exhibiting notes of rich soil, berries and game bird, framed by a touch of smoky oak. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and satiny, with nice depth and flesh.
