Tasting notes
0.43 ha, planted in the 1920s, at the top of Les Suchots. 100% whole bunch. Maximum 20% new oak. Deep cherry red. Dark-fruited, spicy, rocky, savoury and super-smooth, with a depth of texture to complement that dark-red fruit. All about the texture here at the moment with the dark fruit seeping out around the edges. Complete if embryonic, generous yet so elegant. Deep and long. Succulent, caressing, promising. (JH)

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru has quite a reticent bouquet at first and demands a lot of coaxing. Eventually it reveals a mixture of red and black fruit, mixed with potpourri and incense. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, hints of espresso infusing the red fruit, and the 100% whole bunches lending a touch of Moroccan spice toward the long finish. This is a Suchots with pedigree.
The 2017 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots is very special, unfurling in the glass with a captivating bouquet of rose petal, raspberry, cassis, blood orange and smoked duck. On the palate, it's full-bodied, layered and complete, with a deep, concentrated core, satiny tannins and serious concentration, concluding with a long, flavorful finish. This old vine cuvée increasingly nods in the stylistic direction of Domaine Leroy!
