2008 Spatburgunder Dernauer Pfarrwingert Grand Cru

Raspberry red with pink rim. Perfumed and very seductive, with just the merest hint of bonfire smoke. An initial oak attack subsides to allow a lovely display of gentle but nevertheless juicy soft red fruit. A deft minerally touch adds to the complexity and despite good substance the Pfarrwingert relies more on an expression of finesse rather than power. (MS)
