The 2017 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru has a rather muted, reduced nose that needs coaxing before it begins to blossom in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, and finely tuned thanks to its keen line of acidity. The oak here is well integrated, and there is ample persistence on the finish, though this is missing some complexity and nuance at the moment. It’s just in a sulky period and will repay cellaring. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

Lightish cherry red. The fruit is ripe and sweet but still pure and fresh, the oak well hidden. Not especially generous in fruit but there's harmony between the fruit and the fine-grained tannins. (JH)

The 2017 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a detailed, quite elegant bouquet of expressive wild strawberry, cassis and subtle violet aromas, Vosne-like in style. The mineral component becomes more palpable with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, rounded and even corpulent in the mouth, layers of lightly spiced red fruit merging with orange peel and brown spices toward the harmonious and quite persistent finish. This is a very finely crafted Clos de Vougeot from Méo-Camuzet.
