Tasting notes
The 2015 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard opens with profound notions of pink grapefruit, pear tart and green mango with touches of pie crust, almond paste, orange blossoms and honeycomb. Medium to full-bodied, it completely coats the palate with satiny textured tropical and citrus fruits, featuring loads of savory accents and a long, uplifting finish.

The weight and power of the vintage really come through in the 2015 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard, and yet the wine doesn't feel quite put together just yet. Even so, there is good depth and creaminess to the tropically-leaning flavors, along with that super-classic hint of matchstick reduction that is such a signature of Hudson Chardonnays. In this tasting, the Hudson is a bit awkward. I would give it another 6-12 months in bottle.
The 2015 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard is one of the most vivid and mesmerizing wines in the range. Slightly reductive notes open up first, followed by alluring scents of orchard fruit, mint, slate and chalk that give the 2015 its distinctive personality. Light on its feet but deep in flavor, the Hudson is shaping up to be a real jewel of a wine.

About the producer

Kistler’s Chardonnays are some of the world’s most sought-after. This cult Californian producer crafts small volumes of exceptional, rich and generous, yet mineral and precise wines. With almost the entire production sold directly to their mailing list, the wines are also incredibly hard to find.
