Tasting notes
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is up-front and aromatic as well, with beautiful red, blue, and black fruits as well as notes of smoked tobacco, incense, and chocolate. It shows the round, supple, super-elegant style of the vintage, and it’s drinking beautifully today. I expect this to evolve along the same lines as the 2012.

I always love this wine, and the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate doesn’t disappoint, with the classic, seamless, sexy style of this vintage front and center. Based on 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and the balance Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot, its saturated purple color is followed by a gorgeous perfume blueberries, violets, exotic flowers, incense, and spice. Full-bodied, multi-dimensional, powerful, yet still weightless and elegant, it’s a fabulous introduction into the wines of this estate that can be drunk any time over the coming two decades.
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. The wine has terrific aromatics of graphite, spring flowers, and some blackberry and blueberry fruit. Full-bodied, elegant, but also substantial and long, this is super-impressive, rich wine can be approached now or cellared for 20 or more years.
Odette's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is dark, sensual and inviting. Black stone fruit, mocha, black cherry and spice are pushed forward. This is an especially ripe, fruity style for Stags Leap. It would be nice to see a little more character, but hopefully that will come with time. The significant presence of Merlot gives the 2014 its succulent, creamy personality. Although not especially complex, the 2014 is delicious.
