A selection of the best fruit from their 100 or so little vineyard plots – usually where the vineyard is too small to warrant a single-vineyard bottling. 50% new oak. Beautiful red-fruited Pinot perfume. Quite a marked contrast with the Blauschiefer which seemed to be truculently avoiding the taster, this wine seems to delight in being charming. Bright juicy cherries, tannins so smooth and supple that they seem to be woven into the fruit rather than encasing it. A bit of spice on a dry and savoury finish. Satisfyingly long and very delicious. (TC)
