A Fiano di Avellino in anything but name. This is the first time the estate was not allowed to label the wine under this DOCG, as the tasting committee decided it was ‘not typical’, although Villa Diamante is considered to produce one of the best Fianos currently around. Makes you wonder how independent these committees really are.   Complex apricot. Looks like this had a little skin contact. The fruit doesn’t immediately remind one of Fiano, but the stony palate with the smoky hint does. Full bodied, ripe and pretty precise for this style of winemaking. Highly original and age worthy.
