Score 15.5/20 · Drink 2008-2012, Jancis Robinson MW, Jun 2006

100% Viognier, granite-mica soil, 40 year-old vines, matured 18 months in old oak casks. Very pale, in every way at the moment. Muted nose but nice savoury undertow. Quite fine – very different from the usual opulent expression of Viognier. Still quite astringent on the finish. Perhaps this will blossom, but it certainly isn’t anywhere near it yet. (JR)
