Tasting notes
Tasting alongside the 2013 and 2016, the 2015 Le Charmois was the clear stand-out. While still quite compact on the nose with subtle, earthy, mineral, savoury tones. The wine lights up on the palate with a rich, unctuous texture – beautifully contrasting the bright, firm acidity which brings energy to the palate. It definitely has better clarity of fruit than the 2013, tasted alongside, with more yellow apple and white peach, while never straying into tropical flavours. There is lovely citric, sour apple Saint-Aubin typicity too. Now with a bit of age, the fruit is honey-tinged with lovely toasted hazelnut, praline flavours and a light toffee note on the finish.
About the producer

Au Pied du Mont Chauve is one of the Picard family's labels. The estate produces brilliant-value Burgundy and is one of few producers able to hold back wine for later release.
