Score 92/100 · Drink 2015-2025, Robert Parker, Dec 2014

From steep slopes (55 degree angle), the 2012 Pinot Noir Lolita Ranch was made from Dijon clones 667 and 777, and spent time in 70% new oak. Its seductive notes of Asian spices, plums, blackcurrants and black cherries are followed by a full-bodied, luscious, voluptuously textured wine to drink over the next 8-10 years. All of these wines are made from 100% destemmed Pinot Noir grapes.

Bright red. Intense red fruit and blood orange scents are underscored by dusty mineral and spice notes. On the palate, taut redcurrant, strawberry and raspberry favors gain sweetness and flesh with aeration. Sexy oak spices build on the finish, which features silky tannins and an echo of fresh red berries. There's 70% new oak here and it expresses itself by spiciness, not vanilla or mocha.

Martinelli

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
