Dark inky red color but remaining clear, the 2006 Barolo Riserva 10 Anni Fossati Case Nere is a really brooding wine with a lot of tertiary components coming across at this stage, including notes of black truffle dried black cherries, and turned earth. Medium to full-bodied, it’s ripe, with a bit drying tannins, and I would love to see a bit more freshness, although it’s still a lot of quality in the glass.

Aromas of tar and rose petal with dried strawberry and perfumes. Full-bodied, firm and silky with asphalt, spice and berry aftertaste. This has lived 10 years in the cellar and is just now coming around as it comes on to the market. Drink or hold.
