‘Chestnuts on the open fire’ might have been written for this wine, but there is far more to it than just smoky and roasted aromas. Even in 2010 the Kammerberg has turned out a monumental wine with an abundance of fruit. As an estate with over 20 years of serious Pinot Noir experience, they have learned to adapt vinification to each individual vintage’s requirements, and though the tannins of this wine are still substantial, in no way do they smother the presence of ripe cherries and blackberries. Maybe there is a tad more acidity than in previous years, but it is well integrated into the overall structure. Impressive! (MS)
