Medium-deep red. Aromas of black cherry, minerals, licorice and menthol. Spicy, layered and ripe, with chewy, extract-rich flavors of black fruits and minerals. Offers enticing sweetness for the year.

Saturated ruby. Slightly reduced but highly complex nose melds blackberry, sappy spices, minerals and bitter chocolate. Sweet, sappy, dense and powerful; not hard despite its serious acids and tannins. Finishes very long and strong, with black fruit flavors of compelling sweetness. A vin de garde for 2001: I'd give this seven or eight years in the cellar.
