Score 95/100 · Drink 2016-2026, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2017

Tasted from magnum, the 1996 Barolo Giachini is exceptional. Crushed flowers, red berries, mint and sweet spices are all beautifully woven together. In the best vintages, Giachini is capable of yielding Barolos with extraordinary aromatic sweetness and perfume. That is exactly what comes through here. Vivid and nuanced, the 1996 will drink well for another decade or more. The beautifully lifted aromatics, silky tannins and overall balance are all hallmarks of a top-flight Barolo.

Score 90/100 · Drink 2011, Robert Parker, Aug 1999

The dark ruby-colored 1996 Barolo Giachini offers a big, smoky, Asian spice, seaweed, and cherry liqueur-scented nose. Medium to full-bodied, lush and sexy with some tannin, this delicious wine should be at its finest with another 1-2 years of bottle age, and keep for 10-12 years.
