Tasting notes
The amazing 1995 Chateau Fonsalette Cuvee Syrah should be cellared for 10-15 years. The wine is ferociously tannic, but, wow, what extraordinary intensity of flavor it possesses. With its viscous texture, and peppery, smoky, sweet cassis, and truffle-scented nose and flavors, this wine offers a sensational mouthful of brutally savage and intense Syrah grown in the southern Rhone. I suspect this wine will evolve for 30-40+ years. Importers: Martine's Wines, San Rafael, CA; tel. (415) 485-1800, and Alain Junguenet, Wines of France, Mountainside, NJ; tel. (908) 654-6173
