Much livelier and more tense than most Corton Charlemagnes. Tight, taut, needs many a long year in bottle. There’s an exceptional amount of acidity evident in this wine – à la Lalou – far more than in any other example I tasted. Pretty hard work at this stage. (JR)

Knockout nose of apple, nutmeg and earth. Dense, sweet and superconcentrated on the palate, conveying a powerful impression of minerality. Wonderfully chewy wine, finishing sappy and long, with great energy for a 2005 and an almost dusty coating of crushed stones and earth.
