Tasting notes
Intensely fruity with some suggestion of elderflower. Light as a feather. Very well made but I'd have thought too light to drink with many foods. Plain sole perhaps. (JR)

The acceptable face of spontaneous fermentation combines a gentle notion of herbaceous green mint with the attractive fragrance of ripe yellow fruit and an enticing scent of almost exotic spices. Very compact on the palate, the Juffer-Sonnenuhr is not designed to flatter the taste buds with superficial niceties, but requires dedication to grapple with the rugged expression of gravelly minerality, a juicy grapefruit flavour the only concession to the early intruder. This is seriously dry, has massive power and bears the promise to deliver great complexity to the patient. The Olympic decathlon requires manifold talents and plenty of strength. If there was such an event for Grosse Gewächse, this would be a serious medal contender. (MS)
