Bright, deep ruby-red. Aromas of black raspberry, mocha, game and mint. Sweet and concentrated but not at all brutal. flavors of black cherry, dark berries, licorice and mint are framed and intensified by sound acidity. Finishes with firm but harmonious tannins and strong fruit.

Produced from 50-94 year old vines, the cassis, blackberry, licorice, and tar-scented 2002 Gevrey-Chambertin Coeur de Roy is a huge, deep wine of immense concentration. Asian spices, cassis liqueur, black berries, earth, and dark cherries vie for the taster’s attention in this thick, pure, well-balanced effort’s flavor profile. (Dugat has 28 barrels of this juice, from vines in excess of 50 years old) Dark red-ruby. Flamboyant, Gevrey-typical aromas of cassis, griotte, espresso, violet and game. Fat, sweet and rich; a large, mouthfilling wine with compelling sweetness and complicating notes of smoke and game. Finishes very long, with sweet, easygoing tannins. A great village wine in the making, from four parcels that yielded an average of 25 hectoliters per hectare.
