Gravel over clay which is higher than at Le Pin so less water stress here than at Le Pin, according to Dominique Thienpont, who sells this wine (the property is looked after by François Despagne). Merlot with 15% Cabernet Franc. A little sawdust character but lovely fresh floral fruit. Slightly chewy end – not as mellifluous as Le Pin say but fine and lively. Not a blockbuster but a nice light touch. (JR)
