Score 92-94/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2009

Bright, deep red with ruby tones. Dark berries and black cherry on the nose and palate, complemented by licorice and bitter chocolate and lifted by a pungent mineral element. Sweeter and fatter than the Cailles today, with superb intensity and the refined texture of a grand cru. The vibrant, rising whiplash of a finish features a bitter cherry flavor sharpened by building minerality. Really an essence of this seductive vintage.
