The 1965 Yquem is an extremely rare wine from a season when many estates did not produce any Sauternes due to the inclement conditions. But it's a turn up for the books! Clear amber in hue, it offers tempting scents of grapefruit, walnut oil and mandarin. The palate is fresh on the entry with tangy marmalade notes. Surprisingly intense, this 1965 is clean and fresh, short on the finish but showing no greenness or faults. Somehow they managed to eke out 99 g/l of residual sugar. Tasted at the château.

About the producer
The undisputed finest sweet wine in the world, Château d'Yquem is the only Premier Cru Supérieur estate in Sauternes, classified in 1855. With a long history stretching back to the Middle Ages, the château is entwined with that of the Lur-Saluces family – who remain involved today.
