Score 17/20 · Jancis Robinson MW, Apr 2002

Very clear, pale amber.Pure, clean, sharp but not especially intense nose. Quite lean and light with almost madeira-like acidity. With its less-than-usual charge of sweetness and exceptionally palate-rinsing-like crispness, this was the only wine that might have been difficult to recognise immediately as great Sauternes. It could almost have been a very old, light fortified wine. 17 and on the way down (recorked 1997) (JR)
