Selection of the best vineyards of the château, south-south-east exposure, chalky-clay slopes. Grapes are individually tasted and selected in the vineyard, sorted twice. Grenache (48% 80 years old) and Rolle. Destemming and soft pressing. 100% free-run juice. Maceration at 10-12°C to extract aromas. Vinification exclusively in demi-muids (500-litre barrels). Seven months burgundian-style bâtonnage, temperature controlled. Savoury, tight, intense nose – very focussed with some loose tendrils and then slight flabbiness. Not sure this is set for a very long life. Though as usual there is lovely texture and a hint of garrigue. (JR)

Fine and nervy nose but with lots of body and punch on the palate. Wait a while for this? £175 + VAT per 6, Goedhuis (JR)
