Tasting notes
Cedary, zesty citrus. Tastes much younger than 2007 and is developing a waxy richness and depth, making it more vinous than fruity. Pink grapefruit freshness and very good length. (JH)

RS 1.4g (= 0.1). 40,000 bottles; started by Dubourdieu's father ages ago. All Sauvignon again. On limestone with 20-30 cm topsoil. No clay or gravel. 10-15% new oak and the rest old oak. Much richer, sleeker nose than the Reynon. Total amount of sugar is less than 100 mg per litre (perception threshold is 2 g so this is twentyfold below the threshold). 'The limestone brings freshness of fruit.' More complex. Very bright fruit. Dubourdieu suggests white peach aromas. Bone dry. (JR)
Plenty of grassy Semillon at first, then buttered popcorn and an extremely flint-like mineral tone. A little confused on the palate – very green style of fruit and then the dairy malo character that doesn't integrate as convincingly as the Oculus (below). Still very good, mind – but bit angular. About the producer

This Second Growth estate has origins dating back to the late 1800s. It is, however, under the ownership of the Dubourdieu family – who took over the Barsac property in 1924 – that Ch. Doisy-Daëne truly flourished.
