Sadly, our bottle of the 1989 Barolo Riserva Falletto is flawed, almost certainly damaged by poor storage at some point during its life.
Bruno Giacosa's 1989 Barolo Riserva Falletto is another of the wines of the night. The pure texture, aromatic presence and structure of Nebbiolo are simply captivating.
The 1989 Barolo Riserva Falletto is a deep, mineral-driven wine loaded with dark plums, smoke, prunes, plums and spices. Massive and virile, it is an assertive Barolo that commands attention for its explosive fruit and multi-faceted personality. The tannins are imposing, but also beautifully balanced. This is Giacosa's most explosive, rich wine in 1989, and it is utterly divine.
About the producer
Bruno Giacosa – now run by daughter Bruna – is a cult Nebbiolo producer, that has consistently made some of the best single-vineyard Barbaresco and Barolo from the 1960s onwards. The“red-label” Riservas are some of the finest and most collectable wines in Italy.
