That Boutique-y Rum Company is an exciting independent bottler who champions transparency in the category.
The company, which specialises in rare casks and unusual rum regions, was launched in 2018 following the success of its siblings That Boutique-y Whisky Company and That Boutique-y Gin Company.
Each TBRC 50cl illustrated bottle clearly indicates the source material (sugarcane juice or molasses), production method, and whether the liquid is from a single distillery or not. Rum expert Peter Holland (or Boutique-y Pete as he is affectionately known) consults on TBRC’s bottlings that are aimed at “confirmed geeks, adventurous rookies and the rum-curious”.
In 2019, TBRC launched two signature blends: Bright-Grass (an unaged Martinican rum, unaged Jamaican rum and four-year-old Jamaican rum) and Elegant-Dried Fruits (a blend of Guyanese and Jamaican rums). Designed as an entry into the rum world, the signature blends, unlike the limited edition bottlings, are continuously available.
TBRC limited edition series has included rums from Australia and the UK. The team also independently bottles rums from iconic distilleries such as Foursquare, Caroni and Diamond Distillery.
