Akkeshi is a highly coveted newcomer to the Japanese whisky market, famed for producing peated, smoky bottlings that are reminiscent of the great Islay single malts from one of only two distilleries in Hokkaido.
Akkeshi was founded in 2013 by the grocery company Kenten Ltd, after owner Keiichi Toita decided to make the leap to producing spirits after a spell exporting and bottling Japanese whiskies.
