The 2010 Homage Syrah from Trinity Hill is “the wine by which all other top tier New Zealand Syrah wines have always been judged” (JS). With an outstanding 98 point score from James Suckling, this is a must have for lovers of Syrah from both the New and Old Worlds alike.
The Homage Syrah is Trinity Hill’s flagship bottling that is created “in a distinctly northern Rhone style” (Tanzer). In fact, the vines here originate from cuttings given by Gerard Jaboulet from his world famous Hermitage La Chapelle vineyard in the northern Rhone.
With low yields (as low as 17hl/ha in 2004!) and some of finest Syrah clones in the world and have combined to put Homage Syrah firmly on the radar. Only produced in the best years, and featuring in James Suckling’s Top 100 wines of 2014 (placed 11th), we are delighted to have sourced a rare back vintage parcel of this spectacular wine.
