Mount Pleasant has just been awarded James Halliday’s 2017 Wine Companion Winery of the Year. Halliday called the wines he tasted this year from Mount Pleasant an awe-inspiring array. We are therefore delighted to have scooped up a selection ofhis top-scoring favourites

Maurice O’Shea Shiraz 201398 points“…this is on the far extreme of high quality” – JH

Lovedale Semillon 200998 points“Worth every cent of the price.” - JH

Maurice O’Shea Shiraz is Mount Pleasant’s flagship red and is rated as Excellent by the Langton’s Classification – the unbiased benchmark and ‘Honour Roll’ of Australian fine wine, which judges wines based on performance in the open market, demand and price, over at least ten years. Grown on volcanic soils, Langton’s describe it as follows: “The beautiful fruit characters of this wine always echo with the rich baritonal voice of Hunter Valley Shiraz.”

As Mount Pleasant’s flagship white, Lovedale Semillon was named James Halliday’s 2017 Wine Companion Semillon of the Year and is rated as Outstanding by the Langton’s Classification, which calls it: “Greatly admired by collectors, this is an Australian classic.”

James Halliday praised Mount Pleasant's winemaker Jim Chatto’s “forensic palate” and “vine-by-vine observation” before giving the Hunter Valley winery a five star rating. Find out more below...
