Mas Doix’s status as a legend in Priorat is undisputed. These are magical wines, made in tiny quantities and of world-class quality, from a producer consistently rated as one of the finest in the region by critics. Tasting the current releases at F+R HQ, we were immediately enamoured with their impeccable balance of power and elegance. We are therefore absolutely thrilled to have direct and exclusive access to two of their rare and beautiful wines.

The Wines

The Salanques 2015 is aged in old oak barrels and has very pure fine fruit delineation, transmitting the authentic character of Priorat: ripe blue and black fruits with additional herbs and spice. A wine that can be enjoyed in its youth and drinking beautifully now.

The Doix Costers de Vinyes Velles 2014 has more new wood maturation, adding both structure and concentration. Beautifully made, it will benefit from a few years in the cellar before reaching its peak. Both are great expressions of the Priorat terroir, expertly crafted.

The Terroir

The family legacy of tending vineyards in the Poboleda village dates back to 1850, before Phylloxera ravaged the region. Knowing the terroir of Poboleda in Priorat helps to contextualise how truly special these wines are. The tiny region in northeastern Spain’s Tarragona province is defined by rugged, mountainous terrain. Poboleda has one of the coolest micro-climates in the Priorat and with elevations of up to 600m above sea level is subject to extreme diurnal ranges and incredibly low yields (as little as four or five fist-sized bunches per plant). This means absolute maximisation of flavour and concentration with amazing freshness.

These are truly sensational wines, extremely collectible and already in short supply on the current vintage - don't miss this opportunity to add a case or two to your collection.
