Au Pied du Mont Chauve was the golden find from our trip to Burgundy last year. Following an in-house tasting of their superb 2014s, we have put together an Assortment Case showcasing two bottles from each of three brilliant Chassagne Montrachet 1er Crus.

A similar 2011 mixed case was one of our best-selling wines of 2015, with feedback overwhelmingly positive from customers and staff alike. Qualitatively, these are on a par, if not even finer and we think representative of some of the very best value whites in the region.

Au Pied du Mont Chauve’s vines average over 50 years old, giving immense concentration and depth but allowing for only tiny amounts to be produced. Less than 1,000 bottles are made of some cuvees and while they are hard to find, each is worth seeking out as sublime representations of their terroir.

Until recently such scarcity kept them off of the radar of major critics, keeping prices low, though the situation is changing:

"Currently an over-looked domaine where you probably have better pricing and availability than for many other addresses – and you need look no further than tasting blind to see the quality!" Bill Nanson

These really did wow us last year and even after having tasted great white Burgundy for three straight days, they stole the show. As for the 2014s, we cannot recommend them highly enough and with two of each 1er Cru to try, these mixed cases are the perfect way to taste just how good each vineyard can be.
