Will Lyons' picks for 2008 vintage port
People looking for a quality port to relax with have been offered some advice regarding Single Quintas, which are made in the same way as vintage port but mature more quickly and are generally available at a lower cost.

Writing in the Wall Street Journal, Will Lyons described his experiences tasting the 2008 vintage at the London International Wine Fair.

Vargellas and Terra Feita have been declared by port producer the Fladgate Partnership for Taylor's, while Fonseca got Panascal and Guimareaens and Croft's received Roeda, he noted.

The Croft was "approachable with forward, dark fruit and a slight trace of pepper", added Mr Lyons, who described Taylor's Terra Feita as "a class act" with "creamy, raspberry fruit".

Meanwhile, Symington Family Estates has declared Dow's Quinta Senhora da Ribeira and Quinta de Vesuvio 2008, the latter of which features "a voluptuous character with an overwhelming scent of violets".

In a recent article in the Vancouver Sun, Anthony Gismondi and Mia Stainsby recommended Taylor Fladgate late-bottled vintage port 2003 as the perfect accompaniment to a dessert.
