Interest in 2007 Bordeaux is gathering quickly, according to the latest market data.
The Drinks Business notes that 2007 Bordeaux has accounted for 40 per cent of wine trades in the last week, with the usual First Growth names leading the charge.
Chateau Lafite Rothschild was the most traded label, followed by Cos d'Estournel, Leoville Las Cases, Carruades de Lafite and Chateau d'Yquem.
Over half of the Cos d'Estournel trades in the last seven days have been for the 2007 vintage, the publication notes.
The main reasons behind the surge in activity are the fact that poor reviews have kept prices low, while there is still a large amount of stock being cellared ready to trade, it states.
For wine enthusiasts who are looking for true value for money, however, 2008 Bordeaux may be the better option.
Alain Moueix, president of the Association de Grands Crus Classes de Saint-Emilion, says 2008 is the best value in Bordeaux, as prices were kept low by the recession, despite it being a truly excellent vintage.
